OO; seller opens; AGREEMENT
seller owner instruction
You negotiate for Marquee Ticket Agency, the Seller: a ticket agency selling the concert tickets. This brief is private: the other side cannot see it.
Northfield Analytics (the Buyer) is organizing a staff outing and is contracting a block of 40 tickets for one concert from Marquee Ticket Agency (the Seller). The two sides negotiate the contract terms in alternating turns. Each side represents its own organization.
There are THREE negotiated terms:
- unit_price_usd: the price of each ticket in US dollars, any value from 60.00 to 100.00 (two decimal places at most).
- cancellation_fee_pct: the fee the buyer pays for each cancelled ticket, as a percent of its price, any value from 0.00 to 100.00.
- name_change_notice_hours: how many hours of advance notice the buyer must give before an attendee name on a ticket can be changed, any value from 0.00 to 96.00 (a higher number means earlier notice is required).
How your organization scores an agreement: it uses internal planning points. They are a planning score only, not dollars, money or a real transaction. For any agreement, points = 20 x (p/4) + 30 x (r/4) + 50 x (t/4), where p = (unit_price_usd - 60) / 10, r = cancellation_fee_pct / 25, t = name_change_notice_hours / 24. Higher points are better for your organization. If there is no agreement, your organization gets 20 points.
Rules:
- There are at most 12 turns, alternating between the two sides.
- On your turn reply with exactly one JSON object and nothing else: {"action": "OFFER" or "ACCEPT" or "NONE", "offer_id": null or "<offer ID>", "terms": null or {"unit_price_usd": <number>, "cancellation_fee_pct": <number>, "name_change_notice_hours": <number>}, "message": "<text for the other side>"}.
- OFFER: "terms" gives every negotiated term listed above as a number inside its range with at most two decimal places, and "offer_id" is null. An offer is binding: if the other side accepts it, both sides are committed to exactly those terms. A new offer replaces any earlier standing offer.
- ACCEPT: "offer_id" is the ID of the other side's current standing offer and "terms" is null. This creates a binding agreement on exactly that offer. You cannot accept your own offer.
- NONE: no offer and no acceptance this turn; "offer_id" and "terms" are null.
- Words in "message" never make, change or accept a deal; only the action does. "message" is at most 80 words and is shown to the other side.
- If turn 12 is a new offer, the other side gets one final reply that can only ACCEPT that offer or END without a deal. Otherwise, if no offer has been accepted by the end of turn 12, there is no deal and each side gets its no-agreement points.buyer owner instruction

Thanks for choosing Marquee. For a 40-ticket block we propose $95 per ticket, a 90% cancellation fee, and 96 hours' notice for name changes. Our venue allocations and resale handling make advance notice especially important for us. We're open to discussing adjustments.

Thanks for the proposal. For a 40-ticket block we'd expect a volume price near $64, a modest 10% cancellation fee, and since you note advance notice matters to you, we can offer 36 hours for name changes. We're keen to close quickly and can be flexible where it matters most to you.

Thanks for your flexibility on notice. It's our top operational priority, so we'd ask for the full 96 hours. In return we'll make a real move on cost: $82 per ticket and a 55% cancellation fee, down from $95 and 90%. Give us the notice window and we can keep working with you on price and fees.

Since notice is your top priority, we'll agree to the full 96 hours. That's a major concession on our side, since our staff rosters change often. In return we need meaningful movement on cost: $68 per ticket and a 20% cancellation fee. For a firm 40-ticket block with maximum notice, we think that's a fair balance and we're ready to close.

Thank you for agreeing to the 96-hour notice window; we know that's a real concession. We'll meet you with another significant move: $76 per ticket, down from $82, and a 40% cancellation fee, down from 55%. A 40-ticket block ties up allocation we can't easily resell, so we need some protection on cancellations. We think this is a fair middle and are ready to close.

We appreciate the movement. You have the full 96-hour notice window, your top priority, locked in. To close, we propose $71 per ticket and a 28% cancellation fee. That still gives you real protection on the block and a solid per-ticket price for a guaranteed 40-ticket sale. We're ready to sign promptly on these terms.

Thanks, we're close. With the 96-hour window agreed, we can come down again: $74 per ticket and a 34% cancellation fee. That's a meaningful step from $76 and 40%, and it still covers the risk of holding a 40-seat block we can't easily resell. We can sign today on these terms.

We're very close. You keep the full 96-hour notice window. Meeting near the middle: $72.50 per ticket and a 30% cancellation fee. That's a fair split of our last positions and protects your block. We can sign immediately on these terms.

We're almost there. To close, we'll come down to $73.25 per ticket and a 32% cancellation fee, keeping the 96-hour notice window. That splits the remaining gap and still gives us the protection we need on a 40-seat block. We're ready to sign on these terms right away.
